How is this medication used?

Fosfomycin is usually administered as a single oral dose of 3 grams mixed in water. The contents of the packet should be dissolved in a glass of water and taken immediately after preparation. It is typically taken on an empty stomach for better absorption, either 2 hours before or 2 hours after meals.

Common side effects of fosfomycin include headache, diarrhea, nausea, indigestion, and throat irritation. Serious side effects are rare but may include severe allergic reactions, such as rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, and trouble breathing.
